A few years ago, we conducted a survey to find out what our community would like to see happen here at RVCC. The top response was a request for a walking trail.
On Saturday, March 30, the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and a crew of our own volunteers began work on the creation of this walking trail. The northern section of the trail begins in the meadow behind the recycling center, winds alongside a lovely little creek, and comes out just beyond the baseball field to complete a loop that encircles our 10-acre grounds.
That northern section is the only portion of the trail that requires significant work. We got the worst of the tree-and-brush-clearing done that day, but there is still a long way to go: branch trimming, debris removal, bush-hogging, and spreading mulch along the trail to help prevent Mother Nature from reclaiming what we’ve carved out.
We’re planning a workday on Saturday, June 8. (Rain date is June 15.) With your help, a little sweat and a little luck, we hope to complete this portion of the trail and have it ready for your use by mid-summer. If you can help, please contact us at 434-361-0100 or email@example.com.
We'll be getting started at 8am. Please join us if you can!
