West African Drumming with Kevin Munro
Mondays July 11 & 18, 6--7pm
With the skin of their hands on the skin of a drum, participants will experience the thrill of making music together. In this workshop we will play West African djembe and dunun, focusing on technique, traditional rhythms, connecting as a group, and having fun. Please RSVP.
Cost: $12, or $20 if combined with Percussive Dance
Kevin Munro has been studying djembe and dunun drumming for the past 25 years and has been teaching for 20 years. His experiences include drumming for the opening ceremonies of the Atlanta Olympics, performing with local African drum and dance troupe Chihamba for five years, hosting African artists for local workshops and camps and serving as director of the Charlottesville Community Drum Choir for the past 18 years.
Percussive Dance with Jennifer Borishansky
Mondays July 11 & 18, 7--8pm
A special treat for those who like to drum and dance! Percussive Dance is a fun beautiful blend of West African drumming and dance. Come one come all! We'll sing and play and literally dance to the beat of our own drums. All ages, abilities, and level of experience welcome. Please RSVP.

Jennifer Borishansky teaches West African drumming, archaeology, astronomy, classics, and quidditch to kids of all ages in central Virginia. She is a member of the Charlottesville Community Drum Choir and has been studying W. African drumming for the past 7 years.
