The Poetry of Place—An Experiential Workshop with Amelia Williams
Saturday 5/30, 9—11am; Monday 6/1, 6—8pm; Tuesday 6/2, 6—8pm. In Room 12. Fee: $60/series. How do we respond to the particulars of place when we write? Is place the geography, the street map, the culture and customs, or the phrases and inflections of a location? Participants will receive two short readings before the first class. The three sessions will provide a mix of activities focused on the poetry of place, including walks along Mallory Creek, writing outdoors, guided discussion of the readings, in-class journaling and writing with optional prompts, and a typical “reaction and feedback” workshop. All levels of experience welcome. Pre-registration required—to sign up, contact Amelia at 434-361-2539 or mail@inkville.biz.
